LFW: AW15 Trend Report

Sadly, London Fashion Week has come to an end but we’re leaving no time for the blues to kick in as we’re taking a look at some of our favourite shows over the fashion-fuelled 5 days and bringing you an exclusive of the trends to watch out for in AW15!

Some trends have undoubtedly made their return for next Autumn/Winter and rightly so! We aren’t ready to throw out our turtlenecks just yet! Want to get ahead of everyone else? Then keep reading to know all about the top trends coming next season, you heard it here first …

London Fashion Week - Structured Silhouettes

First up is ‘Structured Silhouettes’ we saw countless amounts of heavily structured garments, offering almost architectural feels to the outfits, with accentuated shoulders or flared bottoms, we love the whole masculine take on some of the pieces! Although some outfits lack in that figure-hugging style most women go for, some of these pieces are still equally as feminine with little or no shape at all! It will all be about finding balances to make your outfits womanly and structured or you could just end up looking like a cardboard box, don’t worry you’ve got months to practice!

London Fashion Week - Western Influences

Possibly one of our favourite upcoming trends is the Western Inspired pieces seen on a number of runways this LFW, the bohemian-luxe feel was the main focus of Burberry’s collection where there was an array of suede, fringe, flowing dresses and embroidered garments. There was clashing prints of florals, paisley and Aztec, metallic fabrics against matte pieces which adds more texture into each outfit. We’ll be taking some of our well-loved SS15 pieces into next season and with some layering they’ll be transformed into pieces suitable for Autumn/Winter! To complete the looks we’ll have our hair in loose curls, who says beach waves has to just be for the summer?!

London Fashion Week - Colour Co-Ordinates

Colour co-ordinating outfits has always been a thing, we know the basics of what colours work well and which ones should just NEVER be seen together! We all colour co-ordinate our everyday outfits; we might not even know we’re doing it half the time! However this trend has been slowly creeping up for a while now, especially seen on the likes of Kim Kardashian, wearing all garments of the exact same shade and she does it effortlessly! Colour matching an outfit entirely may need some more thought than usual but the finished look is guaranteed to keep you looking chic and classy. If you aren’t ready to try out colour matching, then try clashing 2 or 3 shades of the same colour in order to break things up a little!

London Fashion Week - Fabulous FurNext up on the trends to watch out for is fur! It’s a classic Autumn/Winter fabric which won’t be going out of style anytime soon, so you can’t go wrong with investing in a statement fur piece, whether it’s a coat or bag or even a top, a little fluff never hurt nobody! Obviously on the runway they’ve created pieces that we don’t think we could get away with wearing on an everyday basis, so try simplifying things and go back to basics and introduce fur into your outfits by wearing it as a scarf, then when you’re daring enough try out an oversized fur coat!

London Fashion Week - High Neck, Low Hem

Autumn/Winter would not be complete without some layering, we love how culturally accepted it is to layer these days, meaning we can pile on the knits and coats and remain looking stylish and keeping warm, it’s a win-win! The high neck and low hem trend is the perfect way to wrap up in the colder months and still look chic, this also means we can bring our turtlenecks into next season with us! If you’re aiming to achieve the minimal aesthetic for this trend, try pairing a chunky knit over a midi skirt for a relaxed vibe, tuck your hair into your sweater or style it in a low pony for the ultimate chic look!

London Fashion Week - Sixties Flashback

Old trends and styles are consistently being renovated and re-invented into modern shows and collections, we’re set to revisit the 70’s this SS15 and Jonathon Saunders confirmed that we’ll be heading back to the 60’s in AW15! Saunders collection at LFW featured high necklines, long sleeves and A-line skirts and dress typical of the swinging 60’s era! If you’re not up for embracing this trend fully, give a subtle nod to the era with a simple leather pencil skirt or a pair of kitten heels.

London Fashion Week - Lavished In Leather

Last but certainly not least is leather! Seen everywhere and on everyone, it’s a classic fabric and can be effortlessly styled by anyone! Don’t feel restricted to wearing leather only as a jacket, step outside the box and invest in a leather skirt or top, the tough texture will effortlessly add a grunge-glam look to any outfit! To complete the rock chick vibe style your hair in a bed head, grunge style and team it with some heavy black eyeliner, the finished look will be the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic.

And there we have it, a complete round-up of some AW15 trends to keep an eye out for, we can’t wait to see what the new season will bring, especially in everyday street style!
